Looks like Fabric’s days are numbered…
The rumours have been doing the rounds since Matter announced it was to close for the summer. It will be a great loss to the London club scene if Fabric were to go down too. I didn’t get on with the place for ages after a poor first experience but having gone a couple of times more recently (and having had one of the best nights out clubbing in my life when Todd Edwards visited in January) I’d be sad to see it go. The sound system in there is second to none.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of seeing one of my all time favourite dance artists DJ live. It was at fabric, not one of my favoured London clubs, but it was well worth the visit considering the line up. The artist I’m talking about here is the inimitable Todd Edwards. Todd’s had a funny old career. Essentially he makes house music shot through with energy and passion usually delivered from cut up and rearranged vocal stabs (often with an underlying Christian sentiment). What was good about it? What would I rather forget? Let’s see…
What sticks out first and foremost in my mind when thinking of music in 2009 is the emergence of Russian wunderkind Bop. I love drum’n'bass.
